FORT PAYNE, Ala. (June 11, 2025) – Boomtown Makers Market is proud to feature Travis Lyles, a distinguished metal sculpture artist from Leesburg, Alabama, whose work turns raw steel into striking, one-of-a-kind pieces.

Originally from Calhoun, Georgia, Lyles began his journey in the welding industry after studying at Coosa Valley Technical College in the late 1990s. Over the years, he has transformed his technical expertise into an expressive art form driven by a lifelong passion for sculpture.

“Figuring out how to manipulate metal keeps me up at night,” said Lyles. “My studio is like a time capsule—hours go by without me noticing when I’m creating.”

A devoted parent and proud grandparent, Lyles credits his faith and curiosity as the inspiration behind his work. His creative motto, “Thank our Creator for the opportunity to create,” reflects the spirit he brings to every piece he creates.

“We are honored to represent Travis Lyles in our gallery,” said Darlene Rotch, founder of Boomtown Makers Market in the downtown Fort Payne historic district. “Our region is rich with talent, but encountering Travis’s work was truly extraordinary. The scale, craftsmanship, and imagination behind his pieces took us by surprise. From a stately seahorse to a champion steed and chiseled centurion, Lyles’s subject matter for his sculptures runs the gamut. Visitors can experience the entire collection of Lyles’ work at Boomtown Makers Market, located at 324 Gault Ave. in historic downtown Fort Payne, Alabama, where the artist’s intricate sculptures are on display and available for purchase. Hours are Monday and Tuesday, 10:00 a.m.- 2:00 p.m. CST, and Wednesday – Saturday, 10:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m.
