Shawn Schuster

Shawn Schuster has always loved creating. As a child, he crafted elaborate storylines for his GI Joe toys and wrote them in notebooks. He also pursued sketching and painting while his friend’s watched cartoons.

After attending art college in Chicago, he struggled with graphic design and abandoned his artistic dreams.

Thirty years later, Shawn is a professional author rediscovering his passion for painting. His inspiration is spontaneous and chaotic, often sparked by movies or books. Moving to northeast Alabama revealed the beauty of sunsets and cloud formations, which now feature prominently in his work.

Shawn primarily uses acrylics and explores watercolor and gouache for their unique qualities. His paintings often incorporate pen, ink, and markers for added depth. Embracing the fluidity of his creative processes, Shawn believes in following his artistic intuition and letting anxiety fuel his creativity rather than hinder it.
