Susan Wilson Mahar

Susan Wilson-Mahar, originally from Texas, is a retired Military Contractor and proud U.S. Army Veteran. In 1976, she made history as the first woman to become a Helicopter Radio Mechanic in the Army. She moved to Powell about eight years ago to be closer to her husband’s family.

Since retiring, Susan has embraced a love for various crafts, including quilling, pointillism on stones, crocheting, and her latest passion—creating suncatchers and wind chimes.

Though together for over 21 years, she and her wonderful husband, Mark, were married 14 years ago. Susan has two children—her son resides in Dallas, Texas, and her daughter and grandson live in New Zealand.

Having found her forever home in Powell, she cherishes the warmth and kindness of the community. Susan hopes others enjoy her unique creations as much as she enjoys making them!
